Level and quality of life in the context of socio-economic development of Penza region

Background. The problem of socio-economic development of Russian society is urgent, which is due to the low indicators of the standard and quality of life of various segments of the population. According to the rating, Penza region is among the regions with a low level of social and economic development. In this regard, there is considerable interest in studying the key provisions of the Penza Region Development Strategy, analyzing the quality and standard of living of the population of Penza region and comparing them with all-Russian indicators. The purpose of the research is to study the main socio-economic indicators of the development of Penza region. Materials and methods. The study of the socio-economic development of Penza region is based on the study of the Regional Development Strategy, as well as the analysis of data on the quality and standard of living of the population in the region, presented on the Rosstat website from 2020 to 2023. Results. The use of Rosstat data and research materials made it possible to analyze all-Russian and regional indicators of the standard and quality of life of the population, including examining such indicators as wages, poverty level, unemployment, labor market tension, birth rate and mortality. Conclusions. The study showed that the level of wages in the Penza region has been constantly increasing from 2020 to 2023, but it is still low enough to meet the necessary needs of the population. The level of registered unemployment in the Penza region is lower than the national average, which allows us to talk about a favorable situation when seeking employment. An annual decline in the birth rate was recorded in the Penza region, as well as an excess of the mortality rate over the birth rate by more than two times from 2020 to 2022.
